BoSox Club Holds 2014 Awards Luncheon
September 24, 2014 - Dedham, MA -
BoSox Club Annual Awards Luncheon today featured rookie fan favorite, Mookie Betts, a poem from our own Dick Flavin about the career of Derek Jeter, the award winning amateur teams and BoSox Club Man of the Year: Sox assistant hitting coach Victor Rodriguez. NESN's Tom Caron was MC and he brought his customary enthusiasm and great interviewing skills.
Betts spoke about the whirlwind season that took him from Portland to Pawtucket to Fenway and playing several positions in the process. He assured fans he is not named for 1986 Met Mookie Wilson and credits our Man of the Year with fixing a mechanical flaw in his swing.
Victor Rodriguez noted that he has been in organized baseball 20 years...almost as long as Betts has been alive! He credits the players, coaches and Sox Manager John Farrell for keeping a positive focus everyday in spite of injuries and a much more challenging year that 2013.
