Manuel “Manny” Delcarmen is a hometown hero. Born and raised in Boston, he graduated from West Roxbury High School where he began to build his name on the pitching mound. Through his rising fame, he was determined to one day play professional baseball for his city on the biggest stage. That dream came true when he was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the 2000 Major League Baseball Draft.
Manny was a member of the 2007 World Series Championship team - pitching 44 games with an 2.05 ERA.
As Co-founder and Vice President of the Boston Athletic Academy, Manny brings that same determination and championship mentality to the local youth seeking excellence in academics and athletics. His charity, "Manny Strikes For School", raises funds to help Boston Public Schools. Manny enjoys spending time with his family & friends, and continues to give back to the sport of baseball as the pitching coach at Fisher College.
For his continued dedication to the City of Boston, the local communities along with Thomas M. Menino, officially proclaimed October 2, 2005, "Manny Delcarmen Day".
Congrats, Manny!
